Salford City FC Recruits Former Manchester United Executive Ronan Joyce as Chief Business Officer

Salford City Football Club (SCFC) today announced the appointment of Ronan Joyce as the Club’s new Chief Business Officer (CBO). Joyce joins from Manchester United, where he led digital growth and innovation strategies, and brings more than a decade of commercial leadership experience in global sport and media.

As Chief Business Officer, Joyce’s remit spans the full breadth of the Club’s commercial operations, uniting partnerships, media, retail, and matchday strategy into a single growth agenda designed to deliver sustainable success on and off the pitch.

His appointment marks another milestone in Salford City’s mission to build the best small club in the world. Led by co-owner Consello’s relationships with marquee brands, SCFC has secured deals with AIG, Coca-Cola, and DreamSetGo, reinforcing its rising commercial profile and long-term ambitions.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Salford City at such a pivotal moment in the Club’s journey,” said Ronan Joyce. “The opportunity to help shape the commercial strategy of such a forward-thinking and ambitious club is incredibly exciting. Together with our leadership group, I look forward to building a team and culture that delivers for our fans, our partners, and the wider community.”

Gary Neville, co-owner of Salford City FC, commented: “From day one, our mission has been clear—to build the best small club in the world. Bringing Ronan on board is another big step towards that vision. His experience at the very highest level of football and technology gives us the tools to grow sustainably and continue creating something that our fans and the city of Salford can be proud of.”

Janey Whiteside, Chief Growth Officer at Consello, and Nick Woodhouse, Co-Chairs of Salford City’s Commercial Committee, said: “Ronan’s appointment represents another turning point in the Club’s growth story. His experience in building world-class partnerships and digital platforms will be critical as we accelerate our commercial ambitions. We look forward to working closely with him to deliver the next chapter of Salford’s success.”

Joyce spent over eight years at Meta helping leading sports clubs across EMEA before moving to Manchester United, where he played a central role in advancing the club’s direct-to-consumer platforms and managing principal partnerships. His appointment strengthens a leadership team that brings top-flight expertise at a pivotal moment in the Club’s development.
