Background
John scaled Google’s EMEA operations out of Dublin, building a multi-billion-dollar online revenue engine with a team of 3,500 and contributing significantly to Google’s growth in international markets. As VP of EMEA & LATAM at LinkedIn, John guided the company’s strategic direction and growth across business and membership, strengthening LinkedIn’s position in these regions.
John began his career with KPMG in Dublin before moving to the firm’s office on the West Coast in the U.S. After leadership roles at Adobe, Oracle, and First Data, he returned to Ireland to focus on scaling operations for leading technology companies.
John’s expertise is highly sought after in advisory and non-executive director roles across public and private companies, with experience spanning FMCG, finance, and technology sectors. He has held board positions with Greencore plc, Liberty Insurance, and Accenture Ireland and currently serves as Non-Executive Chairperson of Carne Group and StatSports.
In the public sector, John has contributed his insights voluntarily to various Government of Ireland initiatives over the past two decades. His roles include the Tourism Recovery Taskforce, Advisory Group on Media Mergers, and Joint Industry/Government Task Force on Big Data, as well as the Futures Ireland National Advisory Panel.
John holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Dublin and an honorary Doctorate in Economic Science from the University of Limerick for his pioneering leadership in the tech industry. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Business at the University of South Australia.
