Background
Under his leadership, the Irish facility became the largest manufacturing plant within Johnson & Johnson, while serving more than 103 countries and 52 million consumers.
As VP of Global manufacturing, his team consistently delivered double-digit volume growth at the lowest cost globally, while achieving industry-leading quality, gross margins and customer service through the deployment of agile, high volume automation across their global system. During his twenty-year tenure, the company received multiple awards in recognition of its commitment to employee wellbeing, development, and workplace diversity, as well as for its sustainability efforts. Prior to J&J, he held leadership roles at major multinationals, including International Paper, Tambrands, Mars, and Rank Hovis McDougall in the US, Ireland and UK.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Barry has been a prominent figure in international business advocacy, serving for seven years on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland, while concurrently spending eight years on the board of IDA Ireland, the country’s Foreign Direct Investment Agency. As chair of two key IDA Board subcommittees on Regional Development and Innovation & Sustainable Development, Barry championed growth and innovation policies that have been core to Ireland’s success in attracting foreign direct investment. He has also chaired two regional economic taskforces on behalf of the Irish government.
Barry is a Chartered Director of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineers. Barry holds a BEng as well as a Diploma in Executive Coaching from University College Dublin.
